FREDERICTON - A former Progressive Conservative politician has been appointed a judge of the Court of Queen's Bench in New Brunswick.

Marie-Claude Blais will replace Justice P. S. Glennie of Saint John, who became a semi-retired judge last month.

Her appointment is effective immediately.

Blais was elected to represent Moncton North in 2010, but was defeated by Liberal Chris Collins in last October's provincial election.

She was the first woman to serve as attorney general and minister of justice and consumer affairs for New Brunswick. (CKHJ)
