Hit-and-run kills woman on motorcycle; car driver arrested

EDMONTON - A 26-year-old woman is dead after a hit-and-run collision in Edmonton on Monday evening.

Police say she was a passenger on a motorcycle when it was struck by a car making a left turn in an intersection (on 122 Street) at about 8:15 p.m.

A 24-year-old man driving the motorcycle is in hospital in serious condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say both victims were wearing helmets at the time.

Witness reports helped police find a 60-year-old male suspect in west Edmonton. He was taken into custody and police say charges are pending.

No names have been released.
