Police seize 36 kg of cocaine, investigators say drugs bound for Toronto

Police say a drug bust has seen 36 kilograms of cocaine seized that would otherwise have been sold on the streets of Toronto.

In a news release, police said its drug squad "got involved in an investigation into the importation of cocaine from the United States to Canada through the use of transport trailers."

Police say the shipment was brought to Canada through an Alberta land border crossing via a transport trailer.

The news release did not say precisely when police had seized the drugs, or where they were seized.

In the news release, police said the seized drugs had a street value of $3.6  million.
