Meet Codographs: A Young Photographer Capturing The Splendour Of Newfoundland

Meet Codographs
Codographs/Instagram

We head to Newfoundland and Labrador and meet @Codographs, a teenager taking some great shots of that province (and his travels). Here he is in his own words:

My name is Cody Lawrence Dylan More commonly known online as @Codographs. I'm an 18-year old living on the east coast of Newfoundland with a love of adventure and the outdoors. Calling myself an "outdoor enthusiast" would be an understatement.

"Old railway trestle, Port Blandford."

What inspires me to take photos? Well there are various things that inspire me to snap a photo. Getting to explore new areas & experiencing an array of aspects is mainly what inspires me to get out there & gram, however the art of the photo & being able to capture a single moment that you can look back on motivates me as well!

One instagram tip that I keep in mind & follow is: "Don't worry about your follower count or how many likes you get. Shoot what you want, share what you want, and let your feed represent you and not someone you're trying to be." — @HelenAnneTravis.

I do stand by this. I want to be myself and not just a variation of someone else's style.

This photo is one that I haven't used, although I just may sometime in the future. This was taken on January, 29, 2015. It was a Wednesday. A mild January day, with no shortage of fog. I just finished my math midterm. I was driving home and I peered out towards the water and saw that the fog was rolling in. "I have to go get some photos of this", I thought. I walked along shore & noticed this branch sticking out and thought it was a great perspective.

I shot this in one of my favourite places to be during the Fall. Swift Current, Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada. It's a small community nestled at the very top of the Burin peninsula. The colours there are so intense. Various types of maple, birch, alder, & evergreen trees can be seen here. One Saturday in October I just decided it was time for an adventure and this is where the road took me!

I have to admit there are so many that I admire & that inspire me to become a better photographer. Some users that I particularly enjoy are @withhearts & his fiancé @bethanymarieco.

Their photos are always excellent and it's quite interesting to follow along with their adventures. Some others I love are @keenanstack, @elice_f, @kninvu, @ian.jamieson and @stevenofnorth.
