An arsonist or arsonists set a fire that caused $10,000 in damage at a Hydro One construction site earlier in May, Durham Police have determined, and they're offering a $2,000 cash reward for tips about who it was.

A suspect or suspects entered the site on Townline Road N. near Winchester Road sometime the weekend of May 2 through May 4, police say. They used cardboard boxes to ignite a stack of skids which housed parts for the under-construction hydro tower, according to a release by police.

Police ask anyone who noticed activity in the area or has information to call investigator Const. Crittenden of the East Division Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2956. or file an anonymous tip at Durham Regional Crime Stoppers, 1-800-222-8477 or online.
