Eugenie Bouchard named most marketable athlete by Sports Pro

Eugenie Bouchard may be off to a less than stellar start to the 2015 season and she may have refused to shake hands with competitors ahead of a recent Davis Cup match, but apparently that hasn't hurt her perception with advertisers.

The Canadian tennis star tops Sports Pro's annual ranking of the world's 50 most marketable athletes released on Wednesday.

Bouchard climbed from No. 13 in 2014 to the top of the list in 2015.

This is the sixth year that Sports Pro has published their findings based on "discussion, research, and consultation." Furthermore the rankings take into account "marketing potential over the next three years."

The 10 most marketable athletes on the list are as follows:

- Eugenie Bouchard

- Neymar

- Jordan Spieth

- Missy Franklin

- Lewis Hamilton

- Virat Kohli

- Stephen Curry

- Kei Nishikori

- Katarina Johnson-Thompson

- Usain Bolt

Bouchard's ranking is based heavily on her success in 2014, when she won her first WTA tournament and reached two semi-finals and a final in Grand Slam events.

Sports Pro also concludes that Bouchard does not deviate too far from the mainstream ideal of a female athlete.
