There Was A Lot Of Shame Around My Infertility In The Black Community

Infertility is more common than you think, but that doesn’t stop women from feeling ashamed if it happens to them. In Canada, 1 in 6 couples experience problems getting pregnant, yet there is a stigma in society that there must something wrong with you if it happens.

Rev. Stacey Edwards-Dunn, founder of Fertility for Coloured Girls, experienced this shame of infertility for seven years until she finally became pregnant with her daughter Shiloh. In the video above, she discusses the hardships she endured and how infertility impacted her life in the black community.
