And it hails from Korea, of course!

If you follow fashion and beauty bloggers on Instagram, chances are your feeds have been filled with Lancome's latest product, the "Miracle Cushion."

This liquid cushion compact foundation is being heralded as the next big thing in the beauty world (YouTube beauty guru Michelle Phan predicted its total-beauty-industry domination on Into The Gloss in February) thanks to its weightless coverage that offers a healthy, dewy glow.

Cushion compacts have been big in South Korea for a while now (no surprise, since they're always ahead of the curve), but they're slowly making its way into North America, with Laneige and AmorePacific being early adopters of the trend — their cushion compacts are >among the company's best-selling beauty products, with more than 26 million air cushions from 13 of its brands sold globally last year, according to official statistics provided by AmorePacific.

Perfect for the summer months, the lightweight formula offers all the benefits of a BB and a CC cream without the messiness or caking. Plus, its compact case makes it great for travelling or women on the go. To apply, you simply take the thin, powder puff and press it into the cushion to soak in some product and then tap all around your face. Should you require more coverage, simply apply more.

"Because you don't swipe the product on traditionally, it reinforces that the cushion compact has a cooling effect that's more breathable than other foundations, L'Oreal's Pauline Maynard told Into The Gloss. "It doesn’t cake because it’s super thin and light, but most of them have really high SPF -- 50 or higher -- while most BBs only have 30."

The downfalls? There's not much product in the compact, and with hefty price tags, cushion compacts could set you back a few extra dollars a month. Also, the amount of bacteria that could be harboured in the cushion is slightly scary, though germaphobes can take solace in the fact that AmorePacific's CC Cushion Compact is anti-bacterial and anti-microbial.

And foundations aren't the only products coming in a cushion format -- Stila has already gotten on the blush cushion train, while Banila co. has released a cushion gel eyeliner which is available on Amazon.
