Joe Beef Named One Of The World's Best Restaurants

Canada's Finally Getting Some Global Respect For Its Food

Canadians citizens might fight amongst ourselves as to which city has the best food, but we're joined in the knowledge that Canada most definitely has some culinary insight to offer the world.

And finally, finally, it looks like the rest of the globe is catching up. In its list of the 51 to 100 best restaurants in the world released this week, the S. Pellegrino and Acqua Panna-sponsored round-up named Montreal's Joe Beef as number 81, the only Canadian restaurant on the list since 2010. That year, Calgary's Rouge came in 60th and Cambridge, Ont.'s Langdon Hall was 77th, according to Toronto Life.

Chef and co-owner David McMillan was quick to embrace the honour, humbly tweeting:

The number one (to 50) best restaurants in the world will be announced on June 1, and even though we're not holding out hope that too many Canadian spots will be on there, that doesn't mean there aren't plenty worthy of a slot. Meanwhile, perennial winner Noma (it's been at the top for 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014) is the one to beat.

Take a look at these incredible Canadian restaurants that (as far as we're concerned) should be getting their due, and make sure they're part of your travels this summer:
