MOOSE JAW, Sask. - Some paramedics in Moose Jaw, Sask., are trading in their ambulances for bicycles.

Mike Slater with Moose Jaw and District EMS is among the first to participate in the new program, which allows paramedics to get to places where ambulances can't go.

He says his well-equipped bike can go on walking paths and can get around more easily at community events.

He says there's also a public relations benefit, as it allows paramedics to interact with people better than they could if they were in an ambulance.

Regina is another of the many Canadian cities that have added bicycles to their fleet of emergency vehicles.
