The Calgary Humane Society seized 1,123 animals from a northeast home Tuesday, and are calling the seizure the largest in the organization's history.
The Protection and Investigation team, along with help from the Calgary Police, Animal Services and the Calgary Fire department, removed three dogs, three cats, 180 fish and 1,037 mice from the home, due to unsanitary conditions.

“By volume, this is the largest animal seizure in Calgary history," spokesman Brad Nichols said in a press release, adding that 275 animals had to be euthanized due to injuries.
“It will take some time to sift through all of the veterinary evidence, but it is fair to say that charges are pending,” Nichols said.
