CHARLOTTETOWN - The spring session of the Prince Edward Island legislature will begin June 3 with a throne speech from the newly-elected Liberal government.

The Liberals won their third straight majority under rookie premier Wade MacLauchlan on May 4, dropping from 20 seats to 18, while the Tories took eight seats and the Greens won their first seat in the legislature.

The legislature session is being held in temporary quarters while renovations are being done to the historic legislature in Charlottetown.

MacLauchlan has promised to deliver a provincial budget early in June.
