Heat Rash. Ew. :(

There's plenty to love about the summer: the sun is shining, the weather is warm and days seem to last just a little bit longer. But with the good comes the bad, and with hot temperatures comes heat rash.

Bumpy, itchy, sensitive skin that develops as a result of exposure to high heat and humidity is uncomfortable and irritating for those who suffer though it. And many do.

In an email to the Huffington Post Canada, Dr. Iren Kossintseva, Dermatologic Surgery Clinical Instructor at the University of British Columbia, says that the most common form of heat rash, miliaria rubra, can be identified by itchy, tiny pink and/or clear-fluid filled bumps, usually on found on the neck or back, though it can aso affect other areas.

If you notice these symptoms, Dr. Kossintseva has provided a wide variety of treatments you can try at home in the slideshow below. Starting with reducing your body temperature and drying the skin, Dr. Kossintseva says heat rash can even be avoided altogether.

"Gradual exposure helps acclimatize to the hot and humid environment," says Kossintseva, who explains that working and exercising outdoors during extreme heat is the most common reason people develop heat rash.

Check out the slideshow below for Dr. Kossintseva's 10 tips for treating heat rash.
