Seventeen-year-old Albertan facing terror-related charges denied bail

EDMONTON - A teen from Beaumont, Alta., has been denied bail while he faces terror-related charges.

The 17-year-old was arrested in March on allegations he was planning to leave Canada to fight with Islamic State militants.

The youth is charged with attempting to leave the country to participate in a terrorist group and attempting to leave the country to commit a terrorist activity, "namely murder."

He had also been ordered to undergo a psychiatric assessment.

He will reappear in court June 17.
