CALGARY - WestJet's almost 3,000 flight attendants have voted to approve a new five-year work agreement with the Calgary-based airline.

WestJet (TSX:WJA) says just under 82 per cent of flight attendants represented by the WestJet Flight Attendant Association Board took part in voting between last Friday and Thursday.

The agreement, the first between the board and the airline, included compensation, work rules, standardized processes and a formal framework for discussion between flight attendants and the company.

Specific details on compensation and other issues were not disclosed in statements issued by both the company and the board.

WestJet is Canada's second-largest airline that flies to more than 90 destinations in North America, Central America, the Caribbean and Europe.
