Tampa Bay Lightning's 'Blades Of Steel'-Inspired Projection Is Making Us Nostalgic

The next step, of course, is a projection of "NHL 94."

NHL teams are rushing to outdo each other when it comes to spectacular pre-game presentations.

There's this one, at Montreal's Centre Bell ...

And this one, at Calgary's Saddledome.

But they can all bow down to the Tampa Bay Lightning, who have tapped into nostalgia with an old-school tribute to "Blades of Steel," one of the best hockey video games of all time.

It was a simple, yet unsophisticated, game that entertained users on the original Nintendo console.

The video above this story shows what the Lightning's presentation, titled "Bolts of Steel," looks like on the ice.

It depicts teams going head-to-head in a game that shuns rules like offside and penalties for players who win fights.

Deadspin has a video of how it actually looks during a game.

In short, we love it.

The only thing that could outdo this would be a presentation inspired by "NHL 94" and its endless wraparound plays.
