TransLink is offering compensation to users affected by the May 22 Skytrain shutdown, as long as they can provide proof of fare payment.

Customers who used a Faresaver or ticket can receive a replacement Faresaver for the same category (one, two or three zone.)

Those who submit a Daypass will receive a replacement, and users with a monthly Farecard, will receive two Faresavers of the same category.

Transit was free in Metro Vancouver on May 22, after thousands of rush-hour commuters were left stranded by the closure of the Expo Line SkyTrain between Joyce Station and Waterfront Station.

TransLink blamed the service interruption on a fire that ignited a bird's nest, which burned about a metre of communication cable.

In order to receive compensation, customers must complete a pass replacement request form and submit it with proof of fare payment, either in person at the Stadium-Chinatown SkyTrain station, or by mail to the customer service centre.

All reimbursement requests must be submitted by June 30, 2015.
