Pedestrian dies after being struck by car in Scarborough

A female pedestrian has died and another person has been taken to hospital after being struck by a car in the city's east end, police said Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Lawrence Avenue East and McCowan Road in Scarborough shortly after 12:20 p.m. ET.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. They did not immediately know her age. 

A second person of unknown age and gender was taken to hospital from the scene with unknown injuries. Police could not say whether the two people struck were connected in any way. 

Meanwhile, police revealed that a 75-year-old cyclist who was struck by a car last month has died from his injuries. 

The collision took place on the morning of May 19 on Roxborough Street at Wrentham Place in Rosedale. 

Police said the man died Monday afternoon.
