This Extreme Instagram Trend Has Caused City Officials To Fence Off Part Of Sydney's Coast

Thousands Pose At Cliff's Edge For Extreme Instagram Shot

Thousands of people are putting their lives at risk to take a photo on one of Australia's most scenic spots.

In the video above by Buzz60, we learn about the latest Instagram trend that has people posing on the edge of a 260-foot cliff.

Wedding Cake Rock is a flat-nosed cliff that overlooks the Sydney coast. The National Parks and Wildlife Service of Australia says the spot typically attracts 2000 visitors a month, but has seen more than 10,000 visitors in recent months thanks to its social media popularity.

In 2014, French model Fabien Ardoin died after falling from the cliff's edge, the Daily Telegraph reports.

Park officials recently fenced off the popular tourist destination, stating that the rocks need to be tested for stability.

Check out the video above to see some of the daring photos Instagrammers have been taking at the dangerous spot.
