Unexploded shell found in Toronto's east end

An unexploded shell has been found in Toronto's east end, prompting the police to call in the military to dismantle it.

Police said the shell was found on Minto Street, a small street near the TTC yards at Queen Street East and Greenwood Avenue.

A man who had just bought a home on the street discovered the shell in the house's garage.

Police from 55 Division will remain on scene until officials from the Department of National Defence come to dispose of it.

It's unclear how old the shell is.
