Jacques Parizeau's state funeral takes place today in Outremont

Quebecers will say their last goodbyes to former premier Jacques Parizeau this afternoon at a state funeral at Saint-Germain-D'Outremont in Montreal. 

The funeral starts at 2 p.m. ET and will be streamed live at CBC.ca/Montreal. 

The former Quebec premier and Parti Québécois leader died of cancer on June 1 at the age of 84. 

Over the weekend, thousands of people came to pay their respects at visitations in Montreal and Quebec City. Others shared their memories and sympathies through an online book of condolences organized by the Ministry of International Relations and La Francophonie.

Road, bike path closures

Several roads will be closed today around the church for the funeral preparations and procession. 

- Vincent-d'Indy Avenue and the bicycle path will be closed as of 9 a.m.

- The bicycle path on Côte-Sainte-Catherine will be closed as of 9 a.m.

- The perimeter around the church will be closed completely as of 11 a.m.
