"Trains have timed out and are currently not running," TransLink said in a press release. "Our crews are working hard to restore full service."
The trains stopped working around 4:30 p.m. PT and TransLink says it does not know how long the delays will last, but estimated it will be at least 90 minutes.
Expo Line trains are still running between Edmonds and King George and the Millennium Line is running from Columbia Station to VCC-Clark.
Buses will be running between Waterfront and Edmonds stations.
TransLink is also reminding commuters to stay inside the trains. TransLink spokesperson Anne Drennan says all passengers will be evacuated off the trains by 5:30 p.m.
In September, within minutes of a TransLink train stopping, some passengers broke open the emergency door release and walked on to the train tracks, which carry a 600-volt charge and could have caused an electrocution.
Drennan will provide an update at a press conference at 5:45 p.m. PT.
