A man allegedly stole a blind woman's bag at a downtown restaurant and fled the scene.

The man sat down at a table next to the woman at a restaurant in the Bloor Street West and Bathurst Street area on Saturday, May 23 at about 8:30 p.m. He stole the woman's bag before leaving the restaurant.

The theft was not noticed because the woman is blind.

Police are asking for help identifying the suspect and have released security footage of the incident.

The suspect is a six-foot tall, heavy set black man in his late 30s to mid 40s. He has either shaved or very short hair, and was wearing dark coloured pants, a dark coloured jacket with a hoodie and a dark coloured golf cap on the evening of the crime.
