CALMAR, Alta. - Investigators are looking at the possibility of arson after flames destroyed three homes and damaged a fourth in a community near Edmonton.

Emergency crews were called to Calmar, southwest of the city, early Wednesday morning after reports of a fire in a house under construction.

Two of the homes were occupied, but everyone got out safely.

Area residents say two explosions were heard before the fire.

Investigators say it appears there were two separate blazes.

Leduc Fire Marshall Brad Gurmin says the preliminary damage estimate is about $1.2 million. (CTV Edmonton)
