Montreal judges refuse to sit over constables' camouflage pants

Several judges are refusing to sit this morning because special constables are wearing camouflage pants on the job, creating confusion at the Montreal courthouse.

The constables are wearing the pants instead of their official uniform to protest the province's pension reform legislation.

Bill 3 passed into law last December, forcing municipal workers and retirees to contribute more to their pensions to offset a $4-billion pension fund deficit.

Quebec's Justice Minister Stéphanie Vallée weighed in on the controversy this morning in Quebec City, saying the constables should "dress properly" in their uniforms.
