Mitchell Irwin, 19, of Keswick, Ont. faces three charges following Saturday night's deadly crash including criminal negligence causing death, dangerous driving causing death and fail to stop at scene of accident causing death.
Irwin appeared extremely distraught at his bail hearing, often hanging his head and crying.
He was freed on a $10,000 bail that was paid by his parents. As part of his bail conditions, Irwin will also have a house curfew and cannot drive a vehicle.
Irwin is set to appear in court again in late July.
The 26-year-old victim of the crash has only been identified at this time as being from Burlington, Ont.
Police say the cyclist was southbound on Avenue Road and attempting to turn left onto Davenport Road around 11:20 p.m. on Saturday when he was struck by a northbound Hyundai on Avenue Road.
The cyclist was rushed to hospital, but later died of his injuries.
Irwin was arrested on Sunday, after he surrendered to police.
