Mobile meth lab seized from car at Manitoba-U.S. border crossing

A Minnesota man is in custody after a portable meth lab was seized by Canada border guards in Manitoba.

The border guards stopped the car June 4 at the Sprague crossing, in the southeast corner of Manitoba, and found the lab set up inside.

They also found a backpack containing more materials for a suspected methamphetamine production laboratory as well as 85 grams of suspected meth in a plastic bottle.

The man and evidence were turned over to the RCMP, while members of the RCMP's Clandestine Lab Enforcement and Response Team, as well as the Office of the Fire Commissioner and local fire department, came to the scene to dismantle the lab.

The man has been charged with:

- Production of methamphetamine.

- Importing-exporting methamphetamine.

- Possession for the purpose of trafficking.

He remains in custody at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
