Neil Snelson found guilty in death of Jennifer Cusworth in 1993

A jury in Kamloops, B.C., has found Neil Snelson guilty of manslaughter in the death of Kelowna college student Jennifer Cusworth more than two decades ago.

The jury came back with the verdict shortly after 9:00 p.m. PT Tuesday — their first day of deliberations.

Jennifer Cusworth disappeared from a late night house party in October, 1993. Her body was found a day later in a ditch in a rural part of Kelowna.

The case remained unsolved until 2009, when investigators re-opened the case and determined semen found at the crime scene matched Snelson's DNA.

Snelson was tried and convicted of manslaughter in 2011.

He appealed the verdict at the B.C. Court of Appeal, which ordered a retrial in 2013 because of an error made by the original trial judge.
