Several break-ins around the Dupont Street and Avenue Road area have police concerned for public safety in the area.

Between May 15 and June 21, police say there have been several cases of unknown assailants entering homes through open or unlocked windows and doors. In some cases, the window screens were cut to get inside.

In one instance, the suspect or suspects were in the house while the people living there were sleeping, according to police.

Police are encouraging neighbours in that area that, even in the warmer weather, to close and secure doors and windows when they are sleeping or not home or sleeping.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-5300, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), online at 222tips.com.
