Getting engaged is an exciting time for couples, and in the days and weeks leading up to saying 'I do,' they can be so busy planning and preparing for the big day that they might forget about the long road ahead.

Couples looking to take the next step can also apply for marriage classes. Though predominantly associated with religious institutions, marriage prep classes are available to all couples and cover everything from fighting fairly to combining finances.

According to researchers at Brigham Young University (which is owned by the LDS Church), while marriage classes do not change the quality of a relationship, they do improve the way a couple communicates. And after all, isn't communication the key to a healthy relationship?
