Here are On the Coast's five picks happening in and around Vancouver this weekend.
1. Greek Day
Greek Day is a family-event that takes place all day on Broadway between MacDonald and Blenheim streets. There will be live music, authentic Greek food and plenty of activities for the kids. Get there early to beat the crowds because the event attracts nearly 100,000 people every year.

2. Vancouver Canadians
The Vancouver Canadians play their season opener this Friday at Nat Bailey Stadium. The home opener is already sold out, but there will also be opportunities to watch the Toronto Blue Jays' development team this week, with games on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

3. Frog Pond Safari
Located at Campbell Valley Park in Langley, the Frog Pond Safari offers kids a chance to watch water striders, frogs and other wild creatures of the pond. There will also be storytellers and a craft station. Organizers recommend bringing a bucket and shoes, because you will be getting wet and dirty.

4. Food Cart Festival
Starting this weekend, the Food Cart Festival happens every Sunday at the Olympic Village. Aside from lots of delicious and unique food options, there will be live music, a community market and even table tennis. Admission is free if you bring a non-perishable food donation for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society.

5. Vancouver International Jazz Festival
With more than 1800 artists, 300 concerts and 35 venues,there's no shortage of entertainment to choose from at this year's Jazz Festival. There are also lots of free performances, including Zaki Ibrahim on Saturday evening or Mexican instrumentalists Troker on Sunday at David Lam Park. Be sure to check the schedule online to find a performance that suits your musical tastes.
