Nasty Toronto weather to blame for power outages, cancelled festivals

Weather is to blame for power outages, downed trees and festival cancellations across the GTA on Sunday.

Heavy rain all weekend up to Sunday morning caused Toronto's Ribfest to be cancelled due to "unsafe grounds." The meat extravaganza will continue on Monday.

Digital Dreams Music Festival was postponed to a revised time of 4 p.m. ET.

Toronto Hydro was working Sunday to restore power outages caused by downed trees and wires. As of 4 p.m. ET, approximately 100 customers were still without power, according to the utility provider.

A large tree trunk fell down overnight onto several vehicles on Glenmore Road, and two other fallen trees and branches created problems near Jones Ave. and Orchard Park.

Environment Canada ended a special weather statement for southern Ontario after heavy rains and unseasonably cool temperatures plagued the first full weekend of summer.

Sunday's daily high is set to be 16 C, but could be even cooler with the rain.
