Calgary police are investigating after a passersby reported seeing a baby left in a hot car at a strip mall Sunday.
Det. Steve Adair told the Calgary Herald the incident occurred at a plaza in the 1400 block of Centre St. North.
A concerned witness made the call to police, alleging that the baby had been in the vehicle for more than 30 minutes, reports Global News.
Temperatures soared to over 30 degrees Celsius Sunday afternoon.
However, when police arrived, the man and the baby had already left.
"With the temperatures reaching what they are, we certainly want you to exercise caution when leaving any animals, and especially when leaving children in the vehicle for any length of time," Adair warned.
Adair told 660 News investigators tracked down the family at home, assessed the baby, and everything appeared to be fine. He said, however, the investigation is on-going and police will continue to follow up with the parents.
Last week, emergency workers smashed the window of a car at Chinook Centre Mall after two children were left inside with the windows rolled up.
EMS treated the children and said they were OK.
