A missing Newmarket man's former hockey teammates in England have posted a YouTube plea to the young man to call his loved ones and let them know that he is safe.

Jonathan Adams has not been in contact with friends or family since Sunday, which police say is out of character for the 26-year-old.

On Tuesday, members of his former team, the Blackburn Hawks, posted a nearly three-minute video asking for him to call home.

"I hope everything's okay buddy," one teammate says. "Everyone's worried about you so get yourself home."

"No matter how far away we are, don't forget we're always here for you," says another.

Investigators found Adams's car in the Bathurst Street and Keith Avenue area of Newmarket, and are now searching a nearby wooded area.

"The public can expect a heavy police presence while the search is underway," York Regional Police said in a news release.

Adams is described as a while male, standing 5'11" tall with a medium build, light-brown hair and green eyes. He is believed to be wearing a navy blue shirt.

Anyone who has information about Adams's whereabouts is asked to call York Regional Police at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7141, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
