Brush fire spotted on north side of Burnaby Mountain

The Burnaby Fire Department has dispatched 30 firefighters to Burnaby Mountain to deal with a small brush fire that broke out Sunday morning.

Burnaby Deputy Fire Chief Chris Bowcott says the fire is about 4.5 square metres in size, but will likely grow before crews are able to contain it.

Bowcott says the department has assigned firefighters and equipment equivalent to a two alarm blaze.

A tactical helicopter from Chilliwack is also on its way to supply additional fire suppression.
