CBC Musical Nooners July 8: Dawn Pemberton

07/07/2015 08:49 EDT | Updated 07/07/2016 05:59 EDT
Come out for this Wednesday's CBC Musical Nooner with Vancouver soul dynamo Dawn Pemberton.

Pemberton has a deep musical foundation rooted in tradition. Her voice has been a staple in Western Canada's funk and soul scene for the better part of a decade. Her debut album, Say Somethin' was released just last year.

Heavily influenced by rhythm, she is drawn to the percolating under current of soul-jazz and funk that is infused in everything that she does.

Pemberton has shared the stage with the likes of Maceo Parker, John Lee Sanders, The Sojourners, John Boutté and Dutch Robinson.

The CBC Musical Nooners are a series of free, live music concerts every weekday from noon to 1 p.m. at the CBC Vancouver Plaza on Hamilton Street (between West Georgia and Robson).

While we do control the lineup, we can't control the weather. Follow us on Twitter at @CBCVancouver or #musicalnooners in case of changes to the schedule due to inclement weather.
