Canadian beach volleyball women stay perfect

In its second day of competition at the Pan Am Games, Canada's women's beach volleyball team kept rolling with a straight-sets victory over Puerto Rico.

Although the Canadian pair remains perfect in the preliminary round, Toronto's Melissa Humana-Paredes and Winnipeg's Taylor Pischke faced a bigger challenge in their second match Tuesday.

Puerto Rico's Lina Bernier Colon and Eva Tourruella made it a close contest, but fell to the Canadians 21-16 in the opening set and 21-15 in the closing set.

Canada trounced the Cayman Islands 21-8, 21-10 in its opener Monday.

Canada's duo will take on Uruguay Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. ET to conclude preliminary action.

The men's team, which consists of veteran Josh Binstock and Samuel Schachter, is set to play its first match against Nicaragua on Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. ET.
