Three women from Ontario face several charges in connection with an assault in Manhattan Sunday.

The Port Authority Police Department (PAPD) says a 35-year-old woman from Stamford, Conn., told police that she had been hit with a bottle and drinking glasses during a party inside the upscale W Hotel in Times Square on Sunday evening. They say the woman required 36 stitches to her face.

PAPD spokesman Joe Pentangelo told CBC News that after the woman was released from Bellevue Hospital, she returned to the hotel, saw the suspects leaving in a car bearing Ontario plates, and followed them in a car driven by a friend.

"When the two cars got to the Lincoln Tunnel, the victim alerted Port Authority Police, who were on patrol near the Tunnel, about the assault," Pentangelo said. "The PAPD officer investigated and subsequently arrested the suspects for acting in concert to assault and injure the victim."

Police have charged the following women with gang assault and criminal possession of a weapon:

- Monique Boakye-Yiadom, 35, from Brampton.

- Aleesha Williams, 26, from Mississauga.

- Amy Walker, 30, from Kitchener.

Pentangelo said the suspects' car has also been impounded.
