Chantal Berthiaume, who was in her 40s, was hit by a trailer that detached from a van as it was driving by the front of the business.
Michel Letarte, the spokesman for Trois-Rivières' public safety division, said the store had given Berthiaume permission to set up a stall in the parking lot. She was working there with her spouse at the time of the accident.
The trailer broke free from the van as the vehicle was travelling down Royal Street just before 4:30 p.m. ET.
The runaway trailer travelled across the lot, hitting the kiosk full-on. Berthiaume was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. She died Thursday morning. Her spouse was treated for shock and minor injuries.
On her website, Berthiaume said she had been drawing for nearly 30 years and was inspired by a job she once held as a wildlife technician. She also designed intricate coloured-sand works in bottles and taught art.
The corner is investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
