Three people in Port Alberni, B.C. are in custody in connection with the death of a teenager who was stabbed after a fight on the street early Wednesday morning.

Carlene Jack, 19, was killed after confronting three people less than a block away from her home.

"She was behind me and I turned around and I was like, 'What's wrong?' and I heard her scream and she said, 'They have a knife,'" said her friend Sheynice Charleson.

Charleson said Jack had followed the three people after they had allegedly taken some items while visiting her house on Fifth Avenue.

An altercation took place, and Jack was stabbed.

"She was holding her chest and she turned around and I looked at her hand and it was full of blood," said Charleson.

She was transported to West Coast General Hospital, but died of her injuries.

Jack's father Barry Foster hopes to see justice served.

"I hope they get punished to the full extent of the law," said Foster.

Police say the three suspects are in custody, but no charges have yet been laid in connection to Jack's death.
