If you accidentally leave your beloved stuffed animal in the hands of a bunch of Canadians, you can expect that it will enjoy a whole lot of love.

We've seen it with a bunny. Now we're seeing it with a bulldog.

Annelies Vredeveldt, a legal psychologist from the Netherlands, was in Victoria for a conference in June.

She had her stuffed dog, Boris, with her — but one day, she returned to the Fairmont Empress Hotel to find the stuffie had gone missing.

"I turned the room upside down, and after I couldn't find him I called housekeeping. They didn't know what had happened either," she said in an email to HuffPost B.C. "I didn't think they would find him."

Vredeveldt flew home without him. But two weeks later, she received a package in the mail — it was Boris, with a letter and a bundle of photos showing him having a grand ol' time in the provincial capital.

It turned out that Boris was accidentally scooped up in the laundry and found a few days after Vredeveldt checked out. Hotel employees took him on an adventure before he was sent home.

"We ensured that he enjoyed Canada Day here at the Empress in Victoria and all the staff enjoyed having him on our country's special day," said the attached letter.

"I couldn't believe that they had found him and sent him back to me. My fiancé and I looked at the photos and just started laughing, we thought it was so funny and so sweet," Vredeveldt said.

"Oh, Canadians," she added on Facebook.

"It was unfortunate that we couldn't find the dog before she left," the Fairmont Empress's housekeeping manager Gregory Pohlod told HuffPost B.C. "We just wanted to put a smile on her face. She said he had a lot of sentimental value."

Come back any time, Boris!
