New Dixie Road interchange to target congestion, confusion

Federal and provincial politicians were on hand in Toronto to announce a new interchange along the QEW on Monday.

The Queen Elizabeth Way—Dixie Road Interchange project in Mississauga will replace the Dixie Road Bridge, Etobicoke Creek Bridge and Ogden Road pedestrian bridge over the QEW.

The plan targets congestion and aims to make the QEW from Evans Avenue to Cawthra Road less confusing for motorists and pedestrians.

The project is the work of the provincial and federal governments. Transportation minister Steven Del Duca said Ontario's contribution would be up to $32.5 million. Lisa Raitt, the federal transportation minister, has promised the same amount, totaling $65 million for the project.

The two made the announcement from the Mississauga site of the proposed interchange.

Del Duca did not say when the project would start.
