CALGARY - Police have charged a 17-year-old male with second-degree murder after a fatal stabbing at a home for at-risk youth.

A second person, an 18-year-old man, is also in custody and being interviewed by investigators.

Police say an 18-year-old male was killed Sunday morning at an out-of-control party at an apartment.

McMan Youth and Family Services says neither the young man who was killed nor the teen who is charged were clients but were guests at the northwest Calgary facility.

The agency has released a statement expressing surprise and sadness at the death.

McMan says although the crime is an anomaly, the organization will examine all processes and procedures related to the affordable housing complex.
