RED DEER, Alta. - There are reports of property damage throughout parts of central Alberta after a series of fierce summer storms swept through.

Strong winds, heavy rain and golf-ball-sized hail hit several communities on Tuesday.

Environment Canada issued tornado warnings and several threatening funnel clouds were spotted around the Airdrie and Crossfield areas, but there were no reports of any touching down.

However, the hail still managed to do a lot of damage to vehicles and windows in communities such as Red Deer, Lacombe, Ponoka, Rimbey, Bentley and Rocky Mountain House.

Late in the evening more weather warnings were issued for Lloydminster on the Saskatchewan-Alberta boundary.
