Toronto police are searching for the body of a 21-year-old Mississauga man who they say was killed in downtown Toronto, then possibly moved two hours out of the city to Wainfleet, Ont.

Homicide Det. Dave Dickinson provided some basics about the case at a 4 p.m. news conference in Welland, Ont.

Dickinson said he believes Shawn Kapadia, who was last seen on July 5, was killed at a townhouse at 7 Foundry Avenue, near Davenport Road and Landsdowne Avenue.

Police were called to that scene on July 15, after someone reported a trespasser.

Police launched a major investigation at that scene, but released few details about what they were looking for.

Dickinson said that investigation led them to a rural home in Wainfleet, Ont., where Kapadia's car was found.

Last week, forensics investigators spent more than 24 hours investigating that home.

Police are considering this case the 27th homicide of the year.
