CBC Musical Nooners July 27: Shred Kelly

Shred Kelly brings its energetic, modern folk sound to kick off the third week of the CBC Musical Nooners this Monday.

Hailing from the town of Fernie, B.C., this five-piece band is best known for its signature clawhammer banjo riffs that tear the fabric of space and time with ambient high-voltage guitar, fierce drums and hauntingly sweet vocal harmonies.

The band pushes the boundaries of the musical folk genre, creating a sound that truly encapsulates the peaks and valleys that define Canada.

You can hear it in the title track from its newest album, Sing to the Night.

The CBC Musical Nooners are a series of free, live music concerts every weekday from noon to 1 p.m. on the CBC Vancouver Plaza on Hamilton Street (between West Georgia and Robson).

While we do control the lineup, we can't control the weather. Follow us on Twitter at @CBCVancouver or #musicalnooners in case of changes to the schedule due to inclement weather.
