Man, 21, shot in Rosemont neighbourhood of Montreal

Montreal police are looking for suspects in a shooting in the city's Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie borough after a 21-year-old man was hit by gunfire early Monday morning.

Neighbours called 911 around 2 a.m. saying they heard gunshots, but when police investigated, they couldn't find any victims. However, shortly afterwards, a nearby hospital called 911 saying a 21-year-old man had been admitted after being shot.

"A police officer went to try and meet him and get more information, but from there, the victim didn't collaborate with police officers," said Montreal police Constable Jean-Pierre Brabant.

Police are investigating at the scene of the shooting. A large security perimeter was set up early Monday morning on 18th Avenue between Rosemont Boulevard and de Bellechasse Street.

Brabant said the injured man is known to police for being active in street gangs. He said the man's injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
