Environment Canada is reporting a possible tornado in Saskatchewan's extreme southeast, in the area of Gainsborough.

The severe weather is associated with a thunderstorm that is moving through the province.

"Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible," the weather office said in a statement Monday night.

Gainsborough is about 300 kilometres southeast of Regina.

In Regina, an intense downpour in the early evening Monday overwhelmed storm sewers in some areas.
