Transgender Flag Raised At Vancouver City Hall To Kick Off Pride Week

Happy Pride Week!

For the first time in Vancouver's history, a transgender pride flag is flying high at city hall.

The blue-and-pink striped banner was raised Monday to kick off Pride Week, alongside the rainbow pride flag.

Mayor Gregor Robertson, local LGBTQ activist Joan E, and the Vancouver Pride Society were on hand to celebrate the historic symbol.

Several events celebrating gay pride are planned throughout the city, culminating in the annual parade on Sunday that attracts tens of thousands of people.
