College Students Talk About What Consent Means

There are 460,000 sexual assaults in Canada every year, according to YWCA Canada. Considering the Canadian population sits below 36 million, that number is shocking.

While the reported number of sexual assaults in colleges and universities are comparatively lower, experts are worried many are going unreported, according to a report from CBC.

Students across Canada are fighting for safer schools and up-to-date sexual assault policies that would help combat sexual assaults on campuses.

In the video above, released by the Washington Post, students are asked to explain exactly what they believe "consent" means.

"Consent is about recognizing boundaries and we are constantly defining those boundaries," said Greta Hausman from Catholic University.

The variety of responses to the question shows just how important these questions really are.
